Through a unique partnership with ArtPop Street Gallery, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting regional artists, The Village hosts an ongoing art residency program that brings creativity directly into the residential experience.
Meet the Artist: Josh Henderson
The current artist-in-residence is Charlotte native Josh Henderson, a multifaceted visual artist specializing in graphic design, illustration, and painting. A graduate of NC A&T State University with a degree in Visual Arts and Design, Josh has developed a distinctive style characterized by vibrant, dynamic compositions influenced by nostalgia, surrealism, and anime.
Beyond his visual art, Josh is the founder of the clothing brand Relax, embodying the philosophy: “Think it, Do it, Live It.” His work has been prominently featured across Charlotte, including billboards, murals, galleries, and commercial spaces. Notably, he has collaborated on NFT projects with Bojangles and created large-scale installations for Lowe’s.
Studio Access and Community Engagement
Residents and visitors have the opportunity to engage with Josh’s creative process during his open studio hours: Saturdays from 11 AM to 3 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM. These sessions offer a behind-the-scenes look at his work and provide a platform for community interaction.
A Collaborative Effort with ArtPop Street Gallery
This residency is part of ArtPop Street Gallery’s Inspiration Projects division, which connects local artists with businesses to offer turnkey creative solutions and comprehensive project management.
